From Capitol Hill to the Highlands, Denver is full of great neighborhoods to explore. One particularly lively and vibrant scene has been blossoming in the up-and-coming neighborhood known as RiNo. This is short for River North Art District. As the neighborhood website describes, RiNo represents “a distinctive area of north Denver that is inclusive of four historical neighborhoods: Globeville, Elyria-Swansea, Five Points and Cole,” noting that the RiNo Art District organization “started as a grassroots movement by local artists that wanted to connect to the arts organizations in the area.” Because of the artists that help make this neighborhood great, RiNo Art District is the place to go if you’re looking for something funky, creative, and offbeat to do in Denver.
Much like Stapleton to the east, there’s a ton to see and experience in RiNo. Here, art, international cuisine, and local culture blend in fun and unexpected ways. Whether you’re new to Denver or a long-time resident, you’ll find RiNo Art District a rewarding place to visit. To help plan your visit, here are a few of our favorite businesses in the RiNo Art District:
Something for Everyone: Denver Central Market
You know that feeling when you and your loved one can’t decide where to eat? At the Denver Central Market, this isn’t an issue because the spacious site features numerous places to pick up a meal, grab a drink, or peruse handmade treats. Most of the vendors offer unique gourmet groceries. Also, the site includes a butcher, a fish market, an ice cream shop, and a bar. This warm and welcoming space offers a community-style dining experience that is a hip and cozy take on a food court experience.
Dine Out: Work & Class
At once both upscale and unfussy, Work & Class offers all the benefits of a luxury dining experience without any of the pretention. We love their incredible Happy Hour from 4pm-6pm and their dinner offerings are fresh, eclectic, and high-quality. Their variety of charcuterie options is especially stunning. Plan your visit accordingly as they don’t take reservations and aren’t open on Mondays.
Lovely Live Music: Nocturne Jazz & Supper Club
Whether you stop in to listen to live jazz music, enjoy a gourmet meal, or sip a hand-crafted cocktail served in an elegant environment, Nocturne Jazz & Supper Club is sure to dazzle. This is an especially good option for a date night because of the ambiance. Note that if you’re hoping to check out one of their top-notch nightly performances by artists-in-residence, reservations are encouraged.
Book a Room: The Ramble Hotel
Whether you’re planning a girls night, helping a family member book a visit, or just looking for an excuse for a little staycation, there are tons of reasons you might want to know about a cool local hotel. For a fun Denver hotel experience, the Ramble hotel is an excellent choice. This boutique hotel features 50 tastefully designed rooms with great views of the city. You’ll love all the elegant details throughout the property, not to mention their world-class service.
See What’s Happening: RiNo Events Calendar
In addition to the array of First Friday events that take place in the district on the first Friday of every month, there are also numerous thrilling events in RiNo year-round. From farmers markets to art shows, the RiNo Events Calendar makes it easy to see what’s coming up. Additionally, there are dozens of classes and special offers for businesses in the district, giving you an extra excuse to explore what RiNo has to offer.
